How long does it take to remodel?

With the limited inventory in Richmond many of my buyers have been opting to look at homes that need a little TLC.

While many experts say to expect anywhere from six to 12 weeks for a complete kitchen remodel, one recent survey found the average kitchen or bath renovation project actually lasts 20 weeks. And many homeowners say they planned to complete a remodel in the past year but could not find the right professional.

My clients who have done home remodels in the past have found them to be a bit overwhelming because of all of the project management they’ve had to do. This is where finding the right professional or team comes in. After several years on a renovation team and working with designers and clients who have renovated I’ve curated a pretty good list of reliable craftsman that can help with most home renovations, including full gut and remodel jobs.

To help set realistic expectations for your personal remodel its important to begin the planning for your project well in advance, and lean on me for reliable local referrals. Plus, I’m always happy to give feedback on what remodels make the most sense if you plan to move or sell in the future. Certain updates aren’t as valuable as you may be think when it comes to ROI and some even can lower the value of your home. Here are 5 examples of renovations that can decrease your property value:
